Running Wild with Wolves! Occasions
At fourward we believe in contributing to community. Running Wild with Wolves is an initiative that started with this in mind. Here's what it's all about:
The Pack: Occasions are great opportunities for strong, like-minded entrepreneurs who are soulful in their actions and committed to contribution and relationships to gather, connect and give back.
The Run: Occasions are times to expand learning, play, contribute, create space and relationships. We meet interesting people, groups, and communities. We choose different venues for each Occasion or may choose the same one for a period of time. It may be local or global. That's our choice. For our first Occasion we made lunches for kids in Calgary with the Brown Bagging it organization.
The Lifeforce: Through contributing with spirit we build strong connections.
Our First Occasion:
The Wilderness: At the Health, Work and Wellness Conference there was a small local display tucked on the edge, away from all the major traffic, amongst all of these large corporate style booths. A gentle man, Bob, was standing unassumingly by his small table where framed brown lunch bags with crayon drawings were perched. It looked a little out of place, so we sauntered up and asked him what his purpose was for being there. His response was overwhelming and passionate. He said that every week day their organization makes lunches for thousands of children who don't have food. He boasted about the volunteers who help make lunches and how corporations send troupes of employees as their 'social consciousness' events throughout the year. Some come back and volunteer regularly, others do it once. Many tell him that it was a very powerful act of giving because each lunch will be eaten that day by a child in need right in Calgary. Hence our first idea for Running Wild with the Wolves! Occasion.

Running Wild with Wolves Howls the Morning after the Full Moon with Brown Bagging It Calgary
A warm, “Don’t touch anything!” was the welcome each of us received as we walked through the doors at Brown Bagging It Calgary. Straight away to instructions on handwashing, why not to put anything on the tables and the sandwich making process. These people know what they’re doing! And the most impressive thing is the warmth, commitment and genuine character of each and every person giving of their time. I was honored to spend a morning contributing to their cause of feeding hungry children in Calgary one lunch at a time. We made 1126 sandwiches.
Half the Pack
How they shared the vision of working their way out of a job and putting the responsibility of feeding our children in each of our hands struck me. “When did adults decide that it was ok for some kids to go hungry?” That is a question I’m not ready or willing to let slip by.
Thank you Brown Bagging it Calgary for sharing your support for our children.
